Background

Stratavest Sdn. Bhd. is a company that had been licensed under the Malaysian Electricity Act (1990). Stratavest signed a 21-year contract of electricity supply with Sabah Electricity Sdn. Bhd. on 24th January 1997 through the Power Purchase Agreement (PPA). The plant named as Libaran Power Station was first energised and synchronised to the grid system on 11 September 1998, and went into commercial operation on 5 December 1998. It was then officially launched by the then Prime Minister of Malaysia, YAB Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad on18th February 1999.

Location

The power plant is located at Sungai Jipon, Jalan Datuk Tay, Off Jalan Fook Kim, Batu 8, Jalan Labuk, approximately 17km south west of Sandakan on the east coast of Sabah, Malaysia. The approximate built up area is 4.66 acres or its equivalent of 18,870 sq. m. The land comprises of flat plane with hills on the rear side and Sungai Jipon River flowing on the far front side.
